THE COUNSELLING WITH ART THERAPY OFFERING
The Apple Aniseed Arts counselling service is a small private practice based in central Aberdeen near Rubislaw.
In the first instance, it would be good for us to meet over a Zoom video call, and you can give me some impressions of what you are experiencing and observing of your self and others that feels challenging.
I can tell you about the arts-based approach, the options around session cycles, and answer any questions you may have for me.
This initial conversation is free, and is for us both to see if we wish to work together.
Some of the ways in which we would approach the Self, is through, poems, simple line drawings, charcoal and soft pastel work, fairytale stories, therapeutic painting with watercolours, and natural clay modelling processes. These work in diverse ways to support whole person health and wellbeing, where you remain in charge of the reflective process.
You do not need any specific art skills to benefit from art therapy, nor do you need to be in a certain age group. Everyone can experience its many benefits no matter your background, age, or current life situation.
The series is offered up to 24 sessions as the maximum. You can decide to end the therapy at any time.
However, a three-week notice is recommended for us to come to a wholesome and healthy conclusion of your process.
I will give you adequate notice of any upcoming holidays that I am planning to take.

Anthroposophical Arts can address a number of the difficult and pressing challenges in our world crises, and I invite you to experience its many subtle gifts of change.

The First session
In your first session we will create a therapeutic agreement together, in words and colours.
We will be taking time for you to share what you feel is relevant, and identify your reasons for starting your explorations.
We may discuss what you envisage as being the outcome of coming to the other side of the challenges you are experiencing at this time, or something you would like to make sense of, that happened some time ago.
You may also want to tell me what you have appreciated or felt uncomfortable with, in previous encounters with therapists.
I would certainly find this helpful.
Please feel free to ask questions throughout; so that they resound in the space, rather than be immediately answered.
We will end our first session with some idea of what your therapy goals are, so that we can focus our time together as we go along each week.
Confidentiality is of upmost importance. Your therapy and personal information will be kept securely.
Information but not full names will be shared with my Supervisor, who regularly reviews my practice.
Confidentiality will be broken if I have concerns that you or anyone else is at risk. If this occurs, it will be discussed in the session and recommendations will be discussed and documented in your notes. I may contact your GP or emergency contact for this purpose.

MOVEMENT FOR HIGHLY SENSITIVE PEOPLE
High sensitivity is our potential
The term high sensitivity is ascribed to people who are very sensitive and perceptive. It denotes an increased:
-
Sensitivity in the interpersonal sphere
-
Heightened sense activity even to the point of
clairvoyance
-
Sensitivity to electro-smog or substances in the sense of allergens
-
The need to experience one’s own actions (High Sensation Seekers)
Highly sensitive people are characterized by passion, creativity, thinking in larger contexts, a multi-faceted perception of complex relationships, accuracy, high body awareness, sense of style, empathy, selflessness, humor, a forward-looking consciousness and commitment to their beliefs.
On the other hand, their increased sensitivity and perception
may cause stress symptoms that severely restrict daily life. Extensive literature, web links, self-help groups and therapy offers exist.
