My Background
Aged 8, I met Mrs Cross our school music teacher. Through her encouragement to learn the recorder ad then. Sing in a choir, she inspired in me a longing to live my Life as Music; to move and speak as Music; to relate to people as Music.
I danced. I sang. I related. I learned as I went along.
It wasn’t until I met the curriculum of The Tobias School of Art & Therapy where I experienced myself as becoming musical through relationships with other people, who like me, were learning to hold my best and not-so-best parts, at heart in full trust of my ability to discern the importance of self-regulation. The experiential training was both painful and beautiful, often at the same time.
On graduating with a Masters in Transpersonal Arts in Therapy, I experienced the community life of Waldorf Education at two different school sites in England and Scotland, that nurtured my creativity and appreciation of listening and becoming more playful.
I also volunteered as the Arts Counsellor for the MIND Mental Health Charity, supporting change for clients in Crisis. Becoming sensitive to the nuances of Art Therapy in rooms, parks, homes, and through screens has been most fruitful in discerning what works well for people and for me, and what may even hinder the connection at times.
My love for the Arts took me towards The School of Storytelling at Emerson College, where the beauty of fairytales as a safe container for change came alive. Inspired by the world stories that contained violence, criminality, and death (loss/endings), I trained as a Quietude practitioner which enabled me to discern the beauty of Death and Life as a way to know Moral Conscience, both in my life encounters of the past, in my work, and ongoing questions.
Through my learning with Dr Tessabella Lovemore, I began to understand the male-female relationship and my responsibility in supporting ‘boys, born anxious’. The dynamics between male and female relationships have always been of interest to me, the for me the experiential feeling of The Fourfold Human Being has been of great value to accept Life as an inner and outer process.
In this view, I feel free to sing and move musically with the movements of Nature, the Cosmos, ad each other, in a way that can inspire Health and Wellbeing.
